Privacy Policy

This is a personal hobby blog. It has no ads, no analytics and no tracking cookies. This page explains the small amount of personal data the site does handle, and why.

Who runs this site

www.mctechsolutions.eu is run by Mike, based in Cork, Ireland. It’s self-hosted on my own server at home in Ireland. You can contact me about anything on this page through the contact page.

What’s collected, and why

Server and security logs

Like every website, the server records basic details of each request: your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser’s user agent. The Wordfence security plugin also uses these details to detect and block attacks, and may share limited security information, such as the IP address of a malicious request, with its developer as part of its threat protection. These logs are used only for security and troubleshooting, never to track or profile visitors. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in keeping the site secure.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, your name, email address and message are emailed to me so I can reply. The form doesn’t store your message on this website. I keep the email only as long as needed to deal with your message, and I never pass it on. A hidden anti-spam check on the form runs in your browser and doesn’t collect anything about you.

Comments

If you leave a comment, the name, email address and website you enter are stored with it, along with your IP address and browser user agent for spam detection. Your email address is never published. Spam filtering is done by the Antispam Bee plugin, entirely on this server, and no comment data is sent to outside services. Profile pictures (Gravatar) are switched off, so your email isn’t shared for that either. Your first comment is held for approval. You can ask me to delete your comments at any time.

Cookies

Ordinary visitors get no cookies. If you tick “save my name” when commenting, your browser stores cookies with your name and email, so you don’t have to type them next time. Those cookies last a year and never leave your device.

Third parties

The site doesn’t load fonts, scripts, embeds or analytics from other companies. Links to other websites are just links: once you follow one, that site’s own privacy policy applies.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you can ask to see, correct or delete any personal data I hold about you, or object to how it’s used. Get in touch through the contact page. If you’re not happy with my response, you can complain to Ireland’s Data Protection Commission.
